Is Interface Design Nets Policy The Answer To Our Online Privacy Woes?

Privacy policies are critical to understanding one's rights on online platforms, yet few users read them. In this pictorial, we approach this as a systemic issue that is part a failure of interaction design. This paper aims to provide a collection of privacy patterns proposed by previous work through a systematic review. The results of an online experiment (n = 88) indicate that privacy policy design can elicit specific affective responses and, when accounting for some characteristics of individuals (e. g. , personality traits), it can influence users' attitudes and behaviors.
